Telephony Setup

HubTalk AI connects to your existing telephony infrastructure via SIP trunks. This section covers the setup process for both inbound and outbound call routing.

Overview

Telephony setup involves configuring a SIP trunk between your telephony provider and HubTalk AI, plus routing rules for call flows (including operator transfer). Setup is typically completed in 1–3 business days.

Setup Process

1

Fill out the telephony template

Your telephony team completes a configuration template provided by HubTalk AI. This includes SIP credentials, IP addresses, codecs, and capacity requirements.
2

Discuss technical parameters

HubTalk AI and your telephony team align on technical parameters: codecs, DTMF mode, concurrent call limits, and failover behavior.
3

Configure SIP trunk and routing

The SIP trunk is configured on both sides. Routing rules are set up including operator transfer numbers (for calls that need to be escalated to a human).
4

Test

Run test calls to verify:
  • Inbound calls reach the correct agent
  • Outbound calls connect and audio is clear
  • Operator transfer routes correctly
  • Failover behaves as expected
5

Bind phone numbers to agents

Assign phone numbers to specific voice agents. Incoming calls to those numbers are routed to the assigned agent.

Operator Transfer Routing

When an agent transfers a call to a human operator (via the transfer function), the call is routed through the configured SIP trunk to the operator’s number. Ensure transfer target numbers are reachable from the same trunk or have a separate route configured.
Telephony configuration is managed by HubTalk AI engineers in coordination with your telephony team. Contact your account manager to initiate the setup.
